Spice Blend

Spice Blend is our interpretation of the classic masala chai, a spiced tea that belongs in every Sri Lankan kitchen. In this signature blend, teas from India and Sri Lanka are combined with cinnamon, cloves, cardamom and rosehip, resulting in a full-bodied and aromatic cup with a soft warmth and round spiciness. The aroma is rich and inviting, the taste is powerful but balanced and the color is deep with a pleasant golden tone.

The tea is best enjoyed strong. It comes into its own with condensed milk, which gives it a velvety sweetness and transforms the cup into a delicious delicacy. A cinnamon stick in the glass enhances both the aroma and the overall experience. Spice Blend is a tea for quiet weekend mornings, for chilly winter evenings and for moments when you want to gather warmth after a long walk. It is also ideal after a spicy meal, as its soft intensity rounds off the taste journey.

The blend was created by Vernon Mauris who loved both tea and cooking. As time in the kitchen became increasingly limited, he sought a new way to express his sense of scent and spice. In 1989, this tea blend was born as an expression of that creativity and it has since become one of our most requested during the fall and winter. Serve it piping hot with milk or enjoy it as a cooling variant with ice and a splash of condensed milk. The tea can also be poured from a high height into the glass for a light froth that lifts both flavor and aroma. It is the tea's own interpretation of a caffè latte but with a richer and more captivating character.
